Welcome to the only online space bridging death, art, and kinship. This circle invites you to explore the deeper, stranger, and more multidimensional aspects of deathwork, griefwork, and creativity - so you can live, create, and love more fully.
We created this space for deathworkers, artists, and community-seekers to have deep, off-the-map conversations, connect through soul-stirring gatherings, and find genuine catharsis. We recognize that Death is silently woven into every breath, informing the work each of us brings to the world and shaping the ways we love one another. That, is what this space is about.
LA MORT COLLECTIVE exists because we are not meant to do this alone. We gather to share our stories, our art, and our wisdom; to witness and be witnessed; and to remember that our magic grows best in the company of others.

Some of the best friendships we know of started in the death space. The La Mort Collective community chat is where deathworkers, artists, photographers, writers, grievers, and seekers find each other, connecting over the shared threads of death, grief, art, and ritual. Share wisdom, decompress, swap ideas, find genuine kinship, and maybe even work on collective member projects, book clubs, and soul-led challenges (like parallel play, but for grown-ups).

bi-weekly themed weeping circle
Many cultures have a name, ritual, or container for the grief that needs to come out of the body, rather than be managed inside: Weep. Wail. Keen. Sob. Mourn. These words exist because the need exists. But most of us don't have anywhere to do this. Weeping Circle is a live, bi-weekly gathering on Zoom where you can show up exactly as you are. Each month has a theme. You might come once, or a few times, or it might just become your new ritual.

a rotating library of on-demand classes
Each month, a rotating selection of recorded classes is available to members. Every class touches one of our pillars: grief, death education, ritual, art, or kinship. Each one runs roughly one to two hours, exploring themes of deathcare, intuition, ritual and ceremony, altar work, and more. The library rotates, and members receive regular updates on what's newly in the library and what's coming next.

Each month brings a fresh rotation of recorded classes available in the library, plus live gatherings - the Weeping Circle and our art therapy group, with themes that shift monthly. The five pillars (grief, death, art, ritual, kinship) stay constant; the angles change. Members receive regular updates on what's newly in the library and what's coming up live.

The Weeping Circle meets weekly on Zoom. The art therapy gathering meets [cadence TBD]. Dates and themes are shared with members each month. You don't have to attend everything, or anything on a fixed schedule. Show up when it calls to you.

Each month a selection of recorded La Mort classes is available to members (roughly one to two hours each), touching on deathcare, grief, ritual, altar work, intuition, and more. The library rotates, so there's always something new. Past classes have included Ancestral Altar Building, The Dying Body, Home Funerals & Bodycare, How to Work with Hospice as a Death Doula, and others.

We built the sliding scale intentionally because we want this space to be accessible regardless of where you are financially. All tiers receive identical access. We're committed to keeping this affordable, and don't anticipate raising prices.

Yes! The private community chat is where a lot of the good stuff happens. Deathworkers, artists, grievers, and seekers from all walks of life, connecting over the threads that brought them here. Some of the best friendships we know of started in the death space.

Not at all (though we might argue that deathwork is itself an art)… this is a space for curious human beings from all backgrounds who want to come closer to Death and Mystery. That’s it.
We have noticed that an uncanny amount of photographers and artists cross over into the death space, and we’ve experienced firsthand how art & creativity enliven and inspire our own lives and work, so we built this space to merge the worlds. Death inspires art.. art imitates life.. and life begets death… we explore it all, and encourage you to take what resonates and leave the rest.

If you’re a practicing or aspiring death doula, death educator, hospice worker, end-of-life celebrant, or practitioner in the death space and want to immerse yourself in an ongoing, steady stream of continuing education, LA MORT COLLECTIVE provides an ever-expanding library of live and recorded workshops, guest speakers, and classes to build wisdom and deepen your craft.
Artists
If you are an artist of any discipline (we’ve found it uncanny how many photographers there are in the death space!) who recognizes that death informs the work of each of us, whether we realize it or not, and you want to explore your relationship with death, grief, and legacy, then this membership is for you.
Community-Seekers
If you’re a death-curious person, an entrepreneur, or a seeker who feels drawn to the kinds of vital ideas and multidimensional topics we explore here, and you want to embolden your work, enrich your relationships with death and dying, and build true, meaningful friendships, come on in! Why We Created This Space
LA MORT COLLECTIVE was born from a need we felt in our own lives - a longing for creative collaboration and mentorship, deep, off-the-map conversations, and soul-stirring community.
Belle has been behind the lens for over 18 years and running a business for 13. Lauren has been pioneering the death space for two decades, teaching and certifying others for the last 8. We wanted to combine our powers and create a space big enough to explore the intersection of death, art, ideas, and community. And most of all, we wanted to gather our friends, old and new, to bring their unique magic to the table.
We are living in a time of great change - an alchemical unfolding that began decades ago, carried forth by our ancestors and foremothers. As part of the timeless, vast mycelium of humanity, connected by invisible threads of love and memory, we are passionate about the new cultures are forming, new industries emerging, and new voices are being called to speak out and join together.
LA MORT COLLECTIVE is a part of this new something.
