Tarot for Thresholds
Taking the Fool’s Journey Across the Thresholds of Life
This 3-week class seeks to offer interpretations, viewpoints, tools, and reflections on how tarot can create a supportive framework for the thresholds of life. It will cover the Major Arcana from the traditional Smith Rider-Waite deck, in addition to the Fool’s Journey, talismanic tarot practices, and a primer on reading for others.

If we are to live fully in this life, we will step across many thresholds into a new way of being. Those crucibles of change can feel immensely isolating, so much so that we often forget our connection to the human experience. Tarot is a way to tap into that collective knowledge, and remind ourselves that being alive, while not for the weak, is oh-so-dynamic and fulfilling.
Threshold Tarot, specifically, is a tarot practice focused on supporting big moments of transition or change in your life or others. In particular, Threshold Tarot seeks to connect the reader to the universality of the human experience and remind them that they are doing the best they can with where they are.
Our 3 Main Themes
theme One
the cards
This class will cover Tarot history and traditional reading, help you unpack the meaning behind each card in the Tarot deck, and discuss frameworks for actually learning and remembering the cards. Together, we will also explore the differences between the Major and Minor arcana, and work to grasp the Fools Journey.
theme Two
the practice
This class seeks to offer a lens for you to look at your own practice, not to offer you a practice in itself. We will explore ways to open your tarot practice to be more compassionate and kind, including different ways to use and embody the cards (particularly through Talismanic Tarot - a practice that holds a card or energy as a talisman or focus for a particular challenge in life).
Theme Three
compassionate readings
This class will equip you with tools to read for others in a compassionate, inclusive, and encouraging way, rather than a diminishing way that ‘should’s’ them into action. You will leave ready to guide and support anyone (including yourself) through the rollercoaster of human experience.
No tarot experience is needed for this class.
You do not need to have experience with tarot, an existing understanding of tarot, or an active tarot practice to join this class. This is for all practitioners of compassion, including but not limited to: doulas of birth and death, counseling, bodywork, spirituality, and support-work overall. It is for those looking for guidance and support whilst crossing the different thresholds of life - birth, death, divorce, change, evolution. And for those wanting to lean into release and surrender as a purposeful practice when encountering crucibles of life.

Raven from Threshold Rituals
Raven is a tarot reader, intuitive and academic. She brings her earth-sign practicality to her tarot readings and loves using the tarot to help people move forward in their lives, whether that be in business, personal or spiritual realms. She brings a compassionate approach to the vulnerability of tarot reading and really enjoys helping clients find their own style of magic - whatever that looks like.
Raven also teaches several witchcraft-focused classes including Intro to Tarot, Tarot for Shadow Work, and Walking the Shadow Path: An Introduction to Dark Witchcraft. She has a free class available called Tarot for Neurodivergent Brains and a Youtube Channel for rituals, classes, and musings.
Our Teaching / Learning / Creating Style at La Mort
We leave behind the polished, gate-keepy approach to education. We teach in ways that carry story and experience. We listen. We laugh (a lot). We go off-script sometimes. We cry (with you)(for those you’ve loved)(for those we’ve loved). We like science and studies and logical frameworks, but also mysticism and poetry and all that stuff. We really love to honor history and those who came before. We move through some serious curricula, but don’t take anything too seriously. We dedicate ourselves to seeing you, and want you to feel seen. We deeply honor our intuition and yours. We lead with integrity (always). And we welcome the odd-balls and misfits, because it takes one to know one.
